The original Dungeons arent up to date and long lost activity. That has been replaced by fractals, certain dungeons that get harder and harder, the way mythic works. And raids are present and up to date, though you'll probably need a raiding guild to have fun with raids. Th base game is free though doesn't include expansion maps.
I love MMORPGs a LOT. GW2 is my favorite by a mile, but there was a period of time where I took a break to try out FFXIV, ESO and WoW. All of them have something that I think GW2 could learn from, but NOTHING compares to the feature ALL of them have: matchmaking LFG/Raidfinder/etc that offers large rewards.
Fractals are 15 minute bite-sized dungeons, with 100 scales in difficulty. Each day they are randomly assigned different minor rules and rewards. Higher levels require ascended gear. Raids are exclusively a series of fights against complex and difficult bosses, and the most challenging PvE content.
