The basics for the 2023 Mercedes-AMG C63 S E are a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder turbocharged engine borrowed and refined from the A45 AMG, which has 350kW of power and 545Nm of torque in the C63. That in itself is incredibly impressive given the old twin-turbo V8 had 375kW of power and 750Nm of torque and this engine is half the size.

The C43’s new turbocharged 2.0-litre mild-hybrid four-cylinder is the same mill from the CLA 45, an AMG-specific engine built in Affalterbach by a single technician (unlike the last-gen V6).
